New York Palomino Exhibitors Association

Affiliated with and Chartered by PHBA

What is a Palomino Horse?
The Palomino horse is a color and not a breed. The ideal body color is approximately the color of a United States gold coin with the mane and tail being made up of at least 85% white hair. Body color on a Palomino horse may be varied.

To be designated in the stock type division, a horse must have two recognized stock type parents. (i.e. AQHA, APHA, ApHC, and/or Jockey Club) So "Stock Type" palominos are double registered and therefore must conform to both standards.

 What is PHBA?
Palomino Horse Breeders of America (PHBA) is the national organization for registering Palomino horses in the United States.

What is NYPEA?
New York State Palomino Exhibitors Association (NYPEA) is a club that sponsors shows for the Palomino horse. New York now only sponsors shows for stock type horses.

Types of Palominos

Stock Type: Palominos that are registered with PHBA and one other acceptable stock type registry. For example: American Quarter Horse Association

Pleasure Type: Palominos that are registered with PHBA and are gaited horses. For Example: Saddlebred, Arabian, or Morgan horses
